Matthew 17:1-8

Matthew 17:1-8

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him! And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and do not be afraid. When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. (Matthew 17:1-8 NKJV)

Let's look at the first three names. There are Peter, James, and John. Peter means rock. James means replace. John means Grace. The ROCK (Ten commandments) are being REPLACED by GRACE (JESUS!) No matter what we read in the Bible, every names, numbers, etc.. have meanings to those who are wanting to dig deeper into His Word and find nuggets in the Bible! I love it!

Now, noticed that Moses and Elijah were talking to the Son of God. Peter, instead of realizing that Jesus should be the only one he should focus on, he saw them all as equals. Moses brought the Laws from Mount Sinai that God gave. The Law was to bring out the worst of men and women. Elijah was the Prophet for the coming of Christ or the Messiah. This prophet was to let the world know that salvation was coming! Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). Jesus is Grace. So we know that Moses an Elijah were not equal to Christ. When Peter mentioned "3 Tabernacles", God basically said, "No, This is the Son of God you should listen to". Jesus is the only One that we all should trust and embrace. Jesus is our everything! And the best thing about Jesus, He loves us so much that He don't want us to be afraid or worry about anything in Life. Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, the Living Son of God!

Genesis Part One (God's creations)

The Book of Genesis is the very first book of the Bible.  It's the very beginning of God's creations.  God is the creator of the universe.  If we look at the very beginning of the Book of John 1:1-5, it will tell us:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not

Jesus was the in the Beginning when God created the Earth!  Without Jesus, there is NO LIFE, CREATION, and SALVATION!  Jesus is everything we need in our lives.

Getting back to Genesis 1, we know that God created the Earth (verse 1), Light (verse 3), firmament (Heaven)(verse 7-8),  Dry land and sea (verse 9-10), grass, herbs, fruits with seeds (verse 11-12),  sun for daytime and stars for nighttime (verse 16-18), male and female animals for the sky, land, and sea (verse 20-30),

God have created all those wonderful things in six days.  But it God didn't rest until the seventh day.  On the seventh day, He made (formed) man out of the dust and breathed Life into the very first man!

Genesis 2:7 says ". And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. "

Then later, God wanted a man to have a helper, the first woman, out of his rib! ( That's why when man and woman gets married, woman is to be by his side, not under his feet.)

Now noticed that before He created man and woman, God was resting.

Genesis 2:1-6

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

God says that all those things that He created before man, were works! He rested while man was formed.  So to Him, we are not His work, but His children!  Oh how wonderful that He doesn't consider us His "things' but His precious children!

Prayers:

Father, I thank you for creating us.  I thank you for Jesus who went to the Cross, died and rose from the dead on the third day.   I thank you for Salvation through Christ and that we have abundant of Grace and Gift of Righteousness.  We are blessed not because of our own righteousness but of His perfect Righteousness in us.  Thank you for our health, our homes, our families and much more in Christ.

Amen.
